I was born and raised in North Dakota where at a very early age I learned to track animals with my father and to sew and rummage with my mother. Paula Deer hats are the combination of these early loves of mine. I hunt for the best fabrics I can find from estate sales, thrift shops and rummage sales. Some of them even find there way here from my mothers fabric stash back home. I use reclaimed fabrics because of the thrill of the hunt, and because I want to do my part in keeping material out of the landfills so the deer and the antelope have more room to play. I also hold an MFA in Sculpture and make work that explores the many relationships that humans have formed with nature and the wild.
